Barrique, maturity and storage cask
Aging the brandy in casks has a very positive influence on the spirits quality. There will be a loss of alcohol concentration after years, but the oak woods own acids mature the brandy ( Cognac or Whisky ) to a much higher quality.
Originally barrique means a VAT or ox hoft of 225 liters.
For the manufacturing of high quality oak barrels just Limousin and Allier oak is used.
Barrica means a barrel of wine aging in Spain.
