Barrels
Aging the brandy in casks has a very positive influence on the spirits quality. The alcohol has to spent many years maturing in oak barrels. There will be a loss of alcohol concentration after years, but the oak woods own acids mature the brandy ( Cognac or Whisky ) to a much higher quality.
